Empyrean II over-ear headphones continue the history of Meze Audio planar devices. The open cups are milled from a single piece and feature a matte black finish with “bold and timeless Art Deco-inspired patterns.”

An isodynamic hybrid driver is responsible for the sound - a film with two-dimensional spiral-shaped coils printed on it with feedback, designed for different frequency ranges. This Rinaro Isoplanar diaphragm weighs about 0.16 g with an active area of ​​4,650 mm². It is surrounded by a frame made of fiberglass reinforced ABS plastic. A uniform field is created by a grid of neodymium magnets.

The Rinaro isodynamic hybrid array driver, patented in the US, EU and China, reproduces a frequency range of 8 - 110,000 Hz at an impedance of 32 Ohms and is capable of creating a sound pressure of 105 dB at a frequency of 1 kHz with a signal swing of 1 V. If to the maximum, then Meze promises more than 130 dB. At the same time, at the same 1 kHz, 1 V, the total harmonic distortion is less than 0.05%.

The same magnets also hold the ear pads in place, making them easy to replace. Moreover, the Empyrean II comes with two pairs of ear pads: Duo, made of premium leather and Alcantara, and Angled (angular), made of soft foam covered with Alcantara, with thin grilles. The total weight of Empyrean II is about 400 g, quite suitable for long sessions. The headband automatically adapts to the anatomical features of the listener.

Meze Audio Empyrean II headphones are equipped with a case made of high-strength ABS plastic. In addition to headphones and two sets of ear pads, there is room for a cable in two versions, silver-plated or copper PCUHD, with connectors 2.5 mm, 3.5 mm (1/8 inch), 4.4 mm, 6.3 mm ( 1/4 inch) and 4-pin XLR - optional.
