JBL tour pro 2 Review

It seemed that JBL Tour Pro 2 could become the best TWS headphones in the company's history - this is a flagship-level model with a huge range of functions. Moreover, the charging case has a unique touch display that makes it easier to operate and also allows you to read notifications from your smartphone.

However, the sound quality for the price segment of the model is depressing, so the Tour Pro 2 does not cope with its main purpose. No matter how diligently you adjust the sound in the equalizer, it will be unbalanced and inconsistent with the top-level models. This is disappointing because the headphones had the potential to be the best TWS headphones on the market.

Build Quality Jbl Tour Pro 2

At first glance, the Tour Pro 2 seems bulky, but it fits well in almost any ear that won't get tired, even after listening to music for a long time. There are two colors to choose from: black and beige, the second one looks especially interesting. But there is no official IP protection against water and dust, not even IPX4, although they should survive training and light rain.

Thanks to the screen, you can forget about the inconvenience of pressing the touch panels of the headphones - and you can change the volume with a simple vertical swipe. The display itself is customizable in the JBL Headphones app - you can adjust the brightness, choose one of five screensavers, enable notifications or one of seven icons to quickly launch the function.

Moreover, JBL promises that soon it will be possible to view call history, as well as receive notifications from social networks. Unfortunately, for now, on the screen of the headphone case you can only see incoming calls, as well as answer or reset them. But other features should appear in future updates.

In any case, even now the case is great and makes using the headphones much more convenient. It is also worth noting that small rubber feet have appeared on the underside of the case, thanks to which it does not slide too much on the table.

Controls Jbl Tour Pro 2

To control the JBL Tour Pro 2, it is more convenient to use the display of the case, but you can also use the touch panel on the top of the “leg” of each of the earbud

For example, one tap on the left touch area of the earphone turns noise cancellation on and off. Double there activates the TalkThru function, for a more comfortable conversation on the phone. And pressing and holding calls up the voice assistant. Control can be configured in the smartphone application, although not completely, but partially.

Sound Quality bl Tour Pro 2

JBL Tour Pro 2 are good in everything except the main purpose of any headphones - sound quality.

The model is equipped with excellent 10mm dynamic drivers, but the problem is not with them, but rather with the sound tuning itself.

If you boost the bass, the mids become muddy and the highs sound too harsh. The sound appears unbalanced with any profile selected in the equalizer. And this is strange, because usually JBL headphones do not have such problems.

Of course, the music sounds acceptable, but you expect something completely different from a top-level TWS model. It also lacks support for high-definition codecs, such as LDAC or aptX. Moreover, many models offer them at 2 times cheaper and sound more interesting.

Features Jbl Tour Pro 2

Personi-Fi 2.0 technology has been added to the JBL Tour Pro 2 to customize the sound to suit your preferences.

First, the headphones check the level of ambient noise - for the option to work correctly, you better be in a quiet room. At the same time, it checks how tightly the headphones fit in your ears. After this, nine different sounds are played, and as soon as you stop hearing them, you need to remove your finger from the control sensor on the earpiece.

Personi-Fi 2.0 allows you to slightly customize the sound to suit your preferences.

At first I thought that the JBL Tour Pro 2 had problems with active noise cancellation, but these feelings were wrong. In practice, the ANC technology in the Tour Pro 2 is implemented well, eliminating almost all unnecessary noise. This also allows you to enjoy music in any environment. However, on some models from Apple and Sony, noise reduction is implemented noticeably better.

Battery Life Jbl Tour Pro 2

"Due to the touchscreen display, there were concerns that the JBL Tour Pro 2's battery life might not be the longest, but that's not a problem"

Fully charged headphones last for 10 hours - although with noise cancellation turned on, the figure drops to 8 hours, and in True Adaptive mode to 6 hours. Together with charging from the case, we get 50/40/30 hours, respectively.

There is also fast charging - 10 minutes of keeping the earbuds in the case will provide you with up to five hours of playback when the case itself supports wireless charging.

Verdict Jbl Tour Pro 2

JBL Tour Pro 2 amazes at first glance - the case has a color touch display with many convenient functions for control.

To change the volume, you no longer need to swipe on the headphones themselves, and to select a profile in the equalizer, you no longer need to take out your smartphone. However, they're not perfect for anyone.

Worth buying?

JBL Tour Pro 2 is recommended for purchase only for those who are delighted with the unique charging case with a color display. Although in terms of sound quality, there are many better models.

Pros:

Sound Quality: JBL is known for its quality sound, and the Tour Pro 2 lives up to expectations. It offers rich bass, clear highs, and balanced mids, providing an enjoyable listening experience across various genres.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): The ANC feature effectively reduces external noise, allowing users to immerse themselves in their music or calls without distraction. It's particularly useful in noisy environments like public transport or busy streets.

Comfortable Fit: The earbuds come with multiple ear tip sizes and wing options, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for most users, even during extended wear. This is crucial for maintaining both comfort and sound quality over long listening sessions.

Long Battery Life: With up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge and an additional 24 hours provided by the charging case, the Tour Pro 2 offers ample battery life for most users' needs. Quick charging capabilities also make it convenient to top up the battery when needed.

Water and Sweat Resistance: The earbuds have an IPX7 rating, making them resistant to water and sweat. This feature is ideal for workouts or outdoor activities, providing peace of mind that the earbuds can withstand exposure to moisture.

Cons:

Price: The JBL Tour Pro 2 is relatively expensive compared to other true wireless earbuds on the market. While the price reflects the quality and features offered, it may be a barrier for budget-conscious consumers.

Bulky Charging Case: Some users may find the charging case to be bulkier than expected, which could be an inconvenience for those who prefer more compact accessories for portability.

Touch Controls Sensitivity: The touch controls on the earbuds can be overly sensitive at times, leading to accidental activations when adjusting the fit or handling the earbuds. This may require some getting used to and could potentially interrupt the listening experience.

Limited Customization: Although the JBL app provides some customization options for sound preferences and ANC settings, it's not as comprehensive as apps offered by competitors. Users looking for extensive customization features may find the options lacking.

Connection Stability: While the Tour Pro 2 generally maintains a stable connection, some users have reported occasional connectivity issues, such as dropouts or latency. This could be problematic for users who prioritize seamless connectivity, especially during activities like video streaming or gaming.
