The Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 portable wireless speaker is the brand's most powerful system in its class. Four speakers - a 5.25-inch woofer, two 2-inch midranges and a 3/4-inch tweeter, each work from a separate amplifier.

The total power of the system is 280 W, it is capable of providing 360-degree sound. A range of 32-23,000 Hz and a maximum sound pressure level of 101 dB SPL at 1 m are promised, with acoustic beamforming technology borrowed from the Beolab 90 and 50 models.

The appearance of the Beosound A5 is largely the merit of the GamFratesi designers. The whole is slightly reminiscent of a tall oval basket, with a large fold-down oak wood handle adding to the impression. Everything is environmentally friendly, the body materials are aluminum, wood and paper fiber.

So far, Beosound A5 is offered in two finishes. The first one is Nordic Weave, with aluminum top and bottom, light oak handle. Solid grill - fabric made of cellulose fiber. All this together, according to the idea of ​​Bang & Olufsen, should be associated with a "laid-back Scandinavian summer spent on the beach."

The second design option is in darker colors. The aluminum parts have been given a black "anthracite" finish, and the oak handle is finished in a dark stain, as is the vertical slat grill. All this together creates the "aesthetics of the winter forest." The IP65 water and dust protection rating allows contact with water to damage the device.

The Beosound A5 comes with a modular design that Bang & Olufsen says makes the system maintainable while extending its lifespan, a positive trend in recent months. In the near future, the column can be supplemented with covers of different colors from different materials.

The Beosound A5 is powered by the proprietary Mozart app. With new firmware, additional features are promised, for example, auto-pairing when approaching. You can now combine two A5s into a stereo system. Branded multi-room, equalizer settings, AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Spotify Connect are also available. Accordingly, in addition to Bluetooth 5.2 with support for ACC, SBC codecs, there is also a Wi-Fi module on board. Charging via USB-C will provide up to 12 hours of autonomy at an average volume level. At the same time, Beosound A5 can be used as a power bank.
