The vast majority of laptops, in terms of sound quality, are, to put it mildly, not very good. As a rule, they are equipped with small speakers, which not only cannot play loud enough but also hardly cope with low frequencies.

When watching a movie, this is still acceptable, but this quality is not suitable for music.

In conjunction with any portable device - a laptop, netbook, tablet, or smartphone, a portable speaker equipped with a built-in battery or powered by batteries performs better.

Connecting a JBL or any other speaker to a laptop is easy, no matter what OS is installed - Windows 7, Windows 10, G8, or Vista.

Almost all modern laptops are equipped with a built-in Bluetooth transmitter, with which you can also connect a mouse, keyboard, gamepad, or headphones. In this case, the installation of drivers and complex manipulations with the settings are not required.

When connecting a wireless JBL to a computer, everything is somewhat more complicated - as a rule, there is no “blue tooth” in a desktop PC. You will have to additionally purchase a universal adapter that connects via a USB port.

As a rule, the universal adapter is a plug-n-play device, so it will immediately install the drivers after the first connection to the computer. Otherwise, you will have to install them yourself from the disk that comes with the kit.

So, with the fact that you can connect a wireless speaker to a PC, you can still, we figured it out. The algorithm of actions after installing the drivers on the Bluetooth dongle or after activating this module on the laptop:

1. Open the Start menu.
2. Go to the "Parameters" tab.
3. We find the section "Devices".
4. Select "Bluetooth and others".
5. Turn on the speaker and put it into pairing mode. Which button can do this depends on its model. As a rule, such information is indicated in the instructions for the device. At the same time, the indicator should light up, which makes it clear that the speaker has activated the wireless module and is ready to connect.
6. On the computer, select the "Add device" item and wait until it finds an activated speaker system. The process may take a few minutes, but it usually takes less.
7. After that, a pop-up window should appear with a message that your speaker has been found and connected.
8. We press the "Finish" button. The sound should automatically be redirected to the speaker.

There may be problems with sound output. In this case, in the "Sound" item, in the input devices, manually select the connected device in the drop-down list.

In the “Device settings and application volume” menu, an option is available to output sound from different sources to different playback devices - for example, system sounds or messenger “croaking” to the built-in laptop speakers, and music to a portable speaker system.

To do this, you need to change the settings by specifying the playback device for each source by selecting it in the drop-down list.

In Windows 7, pairing is much easier - the wireless connection icon appears in the system tray immediately after the Bluetooth module is activated. After setting the speaker into pairing mode, right-click on this icon and select "Add Device".

The computer will find the speaker and automatically redirect the sound to it.

Wire connection

Many portable speaker models support connecting to a sound source using a cable. As a rule, such a device is equipped with a 3.5 mm jack slot labeled AUDIO IN or INPUT.

However, this end of the wire can be soldered to the column filling and unwound if necessary. The other end of the cable with the same 3.5 mm jack must be inserted into the green or light green jack on the back of the computer or into the jack with the headphone icon on the laptop. Usually, no further settings are required after this.
