Musical Surroundings Introduces Fozgometer V2 Electronic Azimuth Meter

Musical Surroundings has updated their Fozgometer to V2. Perhaps the word "azimuth" is not so euphonious, but the novelty still helps to set the azimuth of the cartridge as accurately as possible in relation to the plane of the disc of the turntable.

The fact is that, in theory, the body of the pickup (or the mounting plane of the shell) should be strictly parallel to the plane of the rotating disk. Without this, fidelity is reduced - in particular, the stereo scene and channel separation.

As stated, Fozgometer makes measurements as accurately as possible, comparing channel crosstalk - it’s not for nothing that the previous version of the device, produced since 2010, sold about 5,000 copies.

For tuning, the manufacturer suggested using the test disk "Ultimate Test Record" from Analogue Productions. According to Musical Surroundings, the device itself is equipped with a "sensitive logarithmic ratio detector".

The Fozgometer V2 version is said to have increased sensitivity and measurement accuracy. The advantage of the device is that the azimuth is set not according to geometry, but according to the accuracy of reproduction - in this way, even possible errors in the manufacture of parts of the cartridge itself are compensated.

In the US, the Fozgometer V2 from Musical Surroundings will set you back $400.
