Kaleidescape Terra 6TB media server: Up to five simultaneous 4K UHD streams

Known for its Strato media devices, American brand Kaleidescape has launched the Terra 6TB entry-level media server. At the same time, "full-sized" Terra are offered in 72, 48 or 24 TB configurations - to have enough for a solid film library.

Terra 6 TB is designed to work in conjunction with a branded player Strato C. This configuration is designed to replace the Kaleidescape Strato S model with built-in storage. Kaleidescape CEO, Taylor Stansbury, promised the new product excellent playback quality, as well as "greater scalability and performance."

Indeed, not one, but several Terra 6 TB can be connected to the Strato. In terms of speed, it is quite consistent with the gigabit Internet. In any case, Terra 6 TB is capable of simultaneously delivering up to five 4K UHD streams - of course, if you connect, for example, five Strato C to it.

The manufacturer recalled that the Strato S was limited to only two threads. Also in demand should be the ability of the server to simultaneously download and play content.

Until March 31, 2022, the Kaleidescape Terra 6TB is available at a discounted price of $8,000 in the US.
