Monitor Audio Climate 60

ue to its square shape, the Monitor Audio Climate 60 looks more old-fashioned than other outdoor speakers. In our pair, the white has a yellowish tint, reminiscent of the original Macintosh. Or as if they were brought from a house where people smoke a lot.

To help add bass, Monitor Audio has placed an oval passive bass radiator on the back of the speaker. This is the same as the bass reflex port. But without distortion.

Installation is straightforward, just attach the wall brackets with or without an additional 15 degree wedge. The included wedge spacer can tilt the speakers 15 degrees downward. Magnetic covers on the top and bottom of the speakers hide the bracket attachment point. The rear panel has an eyelet for a safety cable.

Sound Monitor Audio Climate 60

When it comes to sound, these speakers have a lot to offer. Especially in the mid-range, there is a rhythmic drive that positively distinguishes them from Sonos Outdoor. The violin picks in Mac Miller 's Good News sound good, as does the snare drum rhythm in Break Up With Your Girlfriend by Ariana Grande. On the other hand, the bass is not very expressive. The deep, powerful bass that should explode at the start of this composition is just a faint hint. The speakers are clearly not for a garden party; Monitor Audio is more suitable for background music.

We also notice the rather darkened sound of the violins surrounding Luka Sulic's cello during the performance of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. They have drive compared to the Sonos, but the Sonos, in turn, has more air in the harmonics. At the end of the day, it's a matter of personal taste, but when choosing for price, there is no doubt that we would recommend the Monitor Audio Climate 60 over the Sonos Outdoor. However, this is not enough to rank them among the leaders of the test when you hear how much better and larger the sound of the Focal 100 OD8 , which cost only a little more.

Conclusion

Monitor Audio Climate 60 has many interesting features. The mids sound especially good, and the violins and snare drums literally sparkle! It will take a little more airiness in the high frequencies to fully convince the harmonic range, and the bass is far from a powder keg. While slightly better than the small  Canton XL.3s , in many ways we're in class with the Sonos Outdoor here, and at a much lower price point. $ 60,000 a pair is still far from cheap, and you can definitely get even better sound for the money. But these speakers emit the signature Monitor Audio sound that many love, and the Climate 60 is not the most powerful speaker in the Monitor Audio line of all-weather speakers. For example  Monitor Audio Climate 80 They have a larger low-frequency cone and their bass is more powerful.
