The Karan Acoustics LINEb preamplifier is part of the Master Collection, in which, according to Karan Acoustics, each component embodies the knowledge and experience accumulated over 30 years in the design and manufacture of high-quality audio equipment.

The LINEb preamplifier, which is the little brother of the flagship LINEa model, has a one-piece design. The manufacturer assures that LINEb uses the same solutions, technologies and premium parts as in the older two-block LINEa model. Most of the components are custom made according to Karan Acoustics specifications. Particular attention is paid to the topology and placement of printed circuit boards inside the case, taking into account possible negative side effects.

The preamplifier is built on the dual mono principle and received three independent power supplies with separate mains transformers (one for each channel and control system), as well as a solid battery of capacitors in the filter.

The volume control is a 64-position, four-channel balanced attenuator with ultra-fast relays and custom-made non-magnetic resistors. Internal wiring is done with cables from Cardas Audio.

The casing of the original design is assembled from massive panels of ultra-high quality aluminum, which, according to Karan Acoustics, provides the best anti-vibration properties and minimal sensitivity to radio frequency and electromagnetic influences. The cases are manufactured using laser cutting; the top cover has an embossed company logo and complex perforations. Support feet - CS2-1.0 from Critical Mass Systems.

The Karan Acoustics LINEb has four XLR and two RCA inputs, as well as two balanced outputs.

The remote control is made in the original round case, in accordance with the style of the Master Collection components.

The Karan Acoustics KA PH1 Black phono stage is the little brother of the KA PH Reference, without a power supply in a separate housing. The phono stage has 1 (XLR and RCA) input. The phono input has an input load, input capacitance, and gain settings. In this way, the cartridge can be tuned for the best performance. The output phase switch makes it possible to play the recording in the correct phase due to non-standard recording production. Vinyl records are recorded with different alignment curves (RIAA, Emi, DECCA, Columbia and Teldec). In order to reproduce the sound correctly and to hear all the details recorded on the recording, the vinyl must be played with the correct EQ.

On our KA PH1 phono stage, as well as on the KA PH Reference, the user can choose 1 of 5 equalizer filters: RIAA, EMI, DECCA, Columbia and Teldec. Numerous set-up possibilities and connection options make it easy to set up for each system with the best sound possible. Vinyls are recorded with different alignment curves (RIAA, Emi, DECCA, Columbia and Teldec).

Many MASTER COLLECTION LINEa & PSUa components have been manufactured by renowned manufacturers according to the specific specifications of Karan Acoustics. Special attention has been paid to PCB layout as it is critical for the best sound quality. The printed circuit boards are made from very specific insulating raw materials and copper, and are available in thicknesses of 75 µm (for preamplifiers) and 120 µm (for power supplies and amplifiers). In addition to exceptional aesthetics, the highest quality aluminum is used to achieve the best acoustics and lowest sensitivity to RF and EMI in circuits. All components are wired internally with pure copper Cardas Audio cables. The electronic circuits were developed in active class A without global feedback. This concept eliminates intermodular distortion (IMD). All circuits are fully balanced and DC coupled (no capacitors anywhere in the audio signal path). DC offsets are controlled by patented DC servo systems.

The design topology with the smallest possible tolerances ensures the perfect balance between positive and negative audio signals, ensuring exactly the same amount of distortion, noise, or interference that can occur on both signal polarities. This kind of perfect balance cancels out all unwanted signal byproducts mutually, leaving only the purest audio to the listener's ears. The output level (volume control) was designed as a 4x fully balanced attenuator with ultra fast relay and custom non-magnetic resistors (0.1% tolerance). Both the remote control and the main control panel of the preamplifier have a “Mute” function and, more importantly, the remote control has an absolute polarity (phase) selection.
