Q Acoustics 5000 series: C3 Continuous Curved Cone and other technologies from the Concept line

The English company Q Acoustics has released a line of speakers 5000, which in terms of its level was between the 3000i models and the older Concept series. The latter, by the way, borrows many of the Q Acoustics 5000 cabinet and driver technologies. In particular, this is the design of the C3 Continuous Curved Cone woofers / mids, about which Q Acoustics stated that the C3 "will form a technological platform for many years to come."

This is a solid concave diffuser without a dust cap, operating mostly in piston mode. This design is claimed to reduce harmonic distortion and smoother coupling with the frequency range of the tweeter - something that Q Acoustics has so far done quite well.

In addition to the C3 Continuous Curved Cone speakers, the Q Acoustics 5000 speakers received sealed tweeters mechanically isolated from the front panel. The P2P (Point-2-Point) internal bracing system provides the hulls with outstanding rigidity, exactly where you need it. In addition, the two older floor standers in the range, the 5040 and 5050 models, are equipped with Helmholtz pressure equalizers (HPETM): they are designed to eliminate resonances inherent in vertical "towers" at certain frequencies.

In addition to these same "towers", the Q Acoustics 5000 series also includes bookshelves 5010 and 5020 (the second, larger ones are more likely a rack version), as well as a center channel speaker 5090. All five models of the 5000 series received front walls laminated with a layer of butyl rubber with a finish of black acrylic - to suppress vibrations. The rest of the cases are available in four finishes: Satin Black, Satin White, Santos Rosewood or Holme Oak.

Floor standing 5040 and rack 5020 are already on sale; shelf 5010 and center channel 5090 are promised in May. So far, there is no data on large 5050 floor-standing speakers - no prices, no delivery times. Q Acoustics 5000 is also expected to be sold as home theater kits.

In Europe, the prices of the Q Acoustics 5000 series loudspeaker models are as follows: 5020 - 800 euros, 5040 - 1,300 euros, bookshelves 5010 - 650 euros, and center channel 5090 - 500 euros.
