The PX7 came out in 2019 and has been on our list of the best active noise-cancelling full-size wireless headphones ever since. Bowers & Wilkins have released an updated version - Px7 S2. What has changed in the second generation?

The Px7 S2 uses new angled 43.6mm drivers. This solution can be found in a number of high-end headphones, for example, Sennheiser HD800 or Beyerdynamic T1. This is done to provide a more natural and speaker-like sound experience with a wider and more open soundstage. The handwriting of the model can be changed to your taste using the equalizer in the new Bowers & Wilkins Music app.

The design of the headphones has been improved to increase comfort: the shape of the cups has moved from an oval shape to a more square one, which has increased the ear cushions, which, together with the headband, have become softer, and downforce has decreased.

An upgraded microphone array and ANC system provide improved call voice pickup and more effective noise cancellation. Battery life is still 30 hours, but a full charge takes 2 hours instead of 3 as before. With fast charging in just 15 minutes, you can now get up to 7 hours of playback. Headphones are available in three colors - black, gray and blue. The cost of new items is 399 US dollars.

The only thing left to report until we hear the B&W Px7 S2 ourselves (watch this space) is that the slimmer and lighter design with “more luxurious” earpads is available in grey, blue and black finishes.

Pros:

Improved Noise Cancellation: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 Noise Canceling Headphones likely boast enhanced noise-canceling technology, offering a more immersive and distraction-free listening experience.

High-Quality Sound: Known for their commitment to audio excellence, Bowers & Wilkins is likely to provide exceptional sound quality, with crisp highs, rich mids, and deep bass, catering to audiophiles and casual listeners alike.

Comfortable Design: Bowers & Wilkins is renowned for its attention to comfort in headphone design. The Px7 S2 may feature comfortable ear cups and a lightweight build, allowing for extended listening sessions without discomfort.

Long Battery Life: These headphones are expected to offer a long battery life, ensuring that users can enjoy uninterrupted music playback for extended periods without the need for frequent recharging.

Premium Build Quality: Bowers & Wilkins is likely to maintain its reputation for premium build quality, utilizing durable materials and meticulous craftsmanship, ensuring longevity and reliability.

Cons:

High Price: Bowers & Wilkins products typically command a premium price tag, potentially making the Px7 S2 headphones inaccessible to budget-conscious consumers.

Limited Features: While focused on audio quality and noise cancellation, the Px7 S2 may lack some of the advanced features found in competitor models, such as touch controls, customizable EQ settings, or smart assistant integration.

Bulkier Design: Despite efforts to optimize comfort, the Px7 S2 headphones may still have a bulkier design compared to some competitors, potentially causing issues for users with smaller heads or those seeking a more streamlined aesthetic.

Limited Compatibility: Depending on the connectivity options chosen by Bowers & Wilkins, the Px7 S2 headphones may have limited compatibility with certain devices or audio codecs, potentially restricting their versatility in certain usage scenarios.

Competition: In a crowded market segment, the Px7 S2 headphones will face stiff competition from established brands and newer entrants, making it challenging to stand out solely based on brand reputation and quality.
