Design

The range of AE products is not very large, but the market coverage is very serious: there are Hi-Fi speakers, compact home theaters, systems for portable devices, and built-in speakers, and systems for outdoor use, and even studio monitors. The AEGIS series is the youngest hi-fi speaker. There is only one subwoofer in this line, however, due to the update of the line from AEGIS EVO to AEGIS NEO, the subwoofer has also been redesigned into a more powerful one. The previous version participates in our test: AEGIS EVO Compact Sub. This is the only subwoofer in the test made in a closed acoustic design. The cabinet is designed to reduce resonance and is made from 25mm / 36mm MDF boards. The speaker with a diameter of 220 mm is mounted on the front wall and is powered by a 150 W amplifier. Judging by the presence of a radiator,

Functions and management

The subwoofer allows you to smoothly adjust the volume and cutoff frequency of the crossover filter. You can use the switches to invert the phase and select the power mode. Line-level (RCA) and high-level (screw terminals) input, as well as line-level and high-level output are provided. The output is filtered by a high-frequency filter at 75 Hz.

Sound

During sound tests, the subwoofer has demonstrated the ability to deliver any sound content in a balanced manner. The AEGIS Compact Sub will prove itself as an empathetic partner for front speakers from different manufacturers. Attractive features of sound - composure, timbre clarity, lack of coloration, excellent impulse response - can be associated with a closed acoustic design. The wide frequency range of the speaker illuminates evenly. The band includes a deep bass area, but the model reproduces medium and high bass best of all. The subwoofer will have enough energy to transmit dynamic film and musical material.

It is a completely universal model with an attractive sound that will successfully fit into both the recreation center and the stereo system.
