Bang & Olufsen and Fernando Alonso Collaborate: Special Editions of Beoplay E8 Sport Headphones and Beosound Edge Speakers

Bang & Olufsen and Spanish racing driver Fernando Alonso have announced a co-created limited edition Beoplay E8 Sport headphones and Beosound Edge speakers.

As explained at B&O, this is not just about Alonso-style devices, but about unique products that are released in honor of the great achievements of the racer. In particular, about Alonso's virtual victories: the Spaniard recently won the Indianapolis 500 Miles, and before that he won the Monaco Grand Prix. In real life, Alonso won the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. To get the Triple Crown, a rider needs to be a winner in Indianapolis (not virtual, but real).

The Fernando Alonso Beoplay E8 Sport headphones are made in the design of the No. 66 Arrow McLaren SP. B&O engineers have tried to ensure that the headphones can be used in almost any situation. You can control playback and answer calls even with wet hands. The model has received IP57 certification, which means protection against dust, moisture and water.

A Bluetooth 5.1 module with support for AAC and aptX is responsible for signal transmission. The headphones are suitable for both iOS and Android.

The company placed a special emphasis on stylish elements that gave the headphones a premium sporting status: the “Alonso” logo, green aluminum, rubberized case in the corresponding style. The Fernando Alonso Beoplay E8 Sport TWS earbuds come with interchangeable ear tips.

A total of 66 sets of headphones will be released in honor of Alonso.

As for the Beosound Edge speaker, we are talking about a special version of the device with pumped bass. The Fernando Alonso Beosound Edge is equipped with Active Bass Port technology, which “like a spoiler on a car” unleashes its potential as the volume rises. The Active Bass port opens (automatically) for more powerful bass, which is handled by a 10-inch driver. A 4-inch speaker works at the midrange, and a 0.25-inch tweeter is responsible for the treble.

Of course, a lot of attention was paid to design. The column was made in Alonso-style and equipped with automatic backlighting, which turns on itself when the motion sensors are triggered. The manufacturer also drew attention to the racer's logo and black fabric.

Fernando Alonso Beosound Edge will be released in the amount of 14 units (Fernando Alonso's lucky number and his car number in Formula 1).

New items will be on sale in September. The prices for Europe are already known: the speaker will cost 3,600 euros, the headphones - 400 euros.
