Car subwoofer Hertz ES 380

The acoustics of this brand are recognizable always and everywhere, be they front speakers or subwoofers, as in this case. Already the orange case of the magnet would have been enough to understand: we are faced with Hertz and no one else. The basket of this subwoofer is stamped, but the resonances are "hidden" very carefully, just expensive. Usually, by default, we think that there should be a groove in the washer of the magnetic system, which prevents damage to the voice coil. Here, such a silence would be inappropriate - the lower washer is flat, so there is no external reason to imply the presence of the same groove. On the outside of the diffuser made of pressed cellulose, a synthetic waterproof coating is applied, so if you were not a big specialist (well, like me, like), you would never have guessed that this is it, beloved by many "paper". The diameter of the central cap is 137 mm. The outer rubber rim has an interesting design: it has plastic plugs that allow you to hide the screws. The suspension is rather narrow (by the standards of today's test subjects), its width is 20 mm. For now, we will assume that the developers focused not on sound pressure, but on linearity. The dimensions of the magnet are 140 x 30 mm, which is not much for a conventional voice coil. But - as it was written, the "usual" size for us today is considered to be 2.5 inches (it will be 63 mm), and the Italians do not order American measures, so they made a coil of 60 mm caliber. The lead wires are firmly fixed on the cone, but then they are nevertheless stitched inside - this is also done. The Hertz subwoofer is the only one in the test whose contacts are simple "spatulas". Well, I'm not my brother's judge. Even Italian ... which allow you to hide the screws. The suspension is rather narrow (by the standards of today's test subjects), its width is 20 mm. And again, it remains to state: the manufacturer is extremely honest with the buyer, 450 W with a coil of this caliber is plausible. The calculated value of the force factor (12.1 T m) is quite serious, with such a magnet it is even more than. This means that the magnetic gap is narrow and, one might say, difficult from the point of view of technology. At the same time, the Italian sub has less distortion than all other classmates - it is absolutely certain that they do not count on any discounts, they do everything as they can, but they can, as it turned out, not bad. The sensitivity is approximately average, and the average level of the "tags" is almost 90 dB / W. In short, normal.

The Italians recommend volumes of 40 - 60 liters for the ES 380, and you can immediately see: he is cramped in them. The measurements of the parameters confirmed the factory values (plus or minus the natural spread), and especially confirmed that the suspension is very soft, which means that it is better to forget about small volumes. It turned out that an 80-liter box can work with equal success for both the ZA and the FI, in both cases the frequency response unevenness turns out to be small, and the acoustic amplification is noticeable. And the volume - after all, the owner of the "tag" should know what he was doing. Tunnel for adjusting the FI needs 10 x 40 cm.
