Acoustics Tannoy Super Gold: three models in the spirit of tradition Monitor Gold
The Tannoy Super Gold Monitor (SGM) line of passive speakers with dual concentric drivers, more than traditional Tannoy, includes three models - Super Gold 10, Super Gold 12 and Super Gold 15. The numbers in the name indicate the size of the woofer in inches. Even here, the new products inherit the concept of the Monitor Gold series monitors, which have been used in recording studios around the world since the 1960s.
The concentric dual drivers used in Tannoy Super Gold are the same as the point sources invented by Tannoy in 1947, albeit created at a modern technological level. The manufacturer continues to promise “unsurpassed off-axis performance and perfect phase coherence.”
The traditional jumper system for frequency response correction is this time located on the front panels of the speakers. Moreover, if in the two younger models it is a two-way circuit, then in the older one, SGM 15, it is a three-way circuit. The bass reflex ports also received a front location, so there are no restrictions on the minimum distance to the rear wall.
Andrew Provan, Tannoy Product Manager, described the Tannoy Super Gold Monitor as "a harmonious blend of vintage aesthetics and cutting-edge technology, offering audiophiles a truly immersive listening experience."
In the UK, Tannoy Super Gold Monitor prices are as follows: SGM 10 from £6,000, SGM 12 from £7,000 and SGM 15 from £9,500 depending on design.
