Monitor Audio Radius 390 review

The active 390 belongs to the recently updated and significantly expanded Radius range. The rigid body is an almost regular cube, on the side walls of which a pair of branded emitters are installed.  A passive diaphragm of the same caliber is designed not only to widen the playing range, but also to effectively damp the vibrations of the main head.

The amplifier section operates in Class D and has 220 watts of nominal power, sufficient to drive the speaker efficiently.
Connectors for connection (linear and LFE) are also quite typical for equipment of this class. In addition, there is a choice of the nature of the sound (Music, Movie, Impact).

In Impact mode, the sound is extremely expressive, but at the same time somewhat lightweight in the area of the lowest bass. Note the convincing attack and fast playback speed, thanks to which there is no confusion in the bass structure. When switching to Music, the sound seemed more balanced. In this case, the attack is not so hypertrophied and close to natural, the sound resolution is higher and the relief is more truthfully expressed.  The theatrical mode (Movie) gives the bass a little more imposing, but at the same time and depth. This character of sound is useful for working with modern blockbusters, replete with low frequency effects.

Pros:

Deep bass

Cons:

nothing at this price
