Mark Levinson to release 100 pairs of ML-50 monoblocs for its 50th anniversary

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Mark Levinson introduced the ML-50 single channel power amplifier. Its prototype was platform # 536 (which in turn was based on the company's earlier models), which was heavily modified.

For example, the capacitance of the capacitor bank of a high-voltage power supply, which provides energy for voltage amplification and pre-amplification, has almost doubled: from 8,800 to 13,200 μF. The capacities of the main high-current source were increased by 20% (from 169,200 to 206,800 μF), which also became more efficient due to modernized rectifiers based on Schottky diodes.

By doubling the offset of the output stage, the power in class A is raised to 20 watts. Power in class AB has also increased to a whopping 425 watts. All this the amplifier delivers to the speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms.

The ML-50 features a fully balanced circuitry with balanced XLR inputs, although unbalanced RCA inputs are also provided. The output is a double set of Mark Levinson Hurricane speaker cable terminals.

The insides of the amplifier are illuminated with red or white LEDs - when the backlight is on, they are clearly visible through the glass top cover. The vibration-damping feet lifted the ML-50's chassis, continuing the curved shape of the front panel. This makes dual-channel ventilation with massive external and internal radiators more efficient.

The thick metal edge with giant unreal handles for two-person carry additionally options a black glass plate with the Mark Levinson logo. The aluminum power button in stand by mode is adorned with a red diode backlight.

The amplifiers are equipped with three-meter branded power cables, white gloves, a microfiber cloth and a personalized set of documentation. The Mark Levinson ML-50 will only be mintage of 100 pairs, and will only go on sale in the last quarter of 2022.

In the US, the retail price of Mark Levinson ML-50 powerheads will be $ 50,000 per pair.
