IFi hip-dac2 portable DAC amplifier for Headphones

iFi audio said that "Our hip-DAC just got trendy!"  presenting an updated version of one of its devices in the form factor of a pocket flask.

After the hip-DAC model released early last year, the improved hip-DAC 2, according to iFi, has an updated 16-core XMOS chip (it processes data coming over USB), provides double the clock speed, and is equipped with 4 times more memory

The Burr-Brown DAC was allegedly chosen by the developers for its musicality. The device is promised support for PCM, native DSD, and direct decoding of MQA, and with resolutions up to 256 bit / 384 kHz.

The crystal oscillator has also been upgraded to better eliminate jitter. With MQA, the audio of the original master recording is promised, decoded in the device itself.

The hip-dac2 amplifier inherited from its predecessor - this is a balanced circuit based on a special opamp iFi OV with ceramic capacitors TDK C0G class 1 and precision low-noise power supply from Texas Instruments.

The iFi S-Balanced circuit cuts crosstalk in half, according to the developers. The amplifier will provide 400 mW to the headphones with an impedance of 32 ohms. 6.3 Vp-p into the 600-ohm load (balanced output) will allow you to work even with high impedance models.

It will be easy to distinguish the new product from the original hip-DAC by finishing the aluminum body in the orange-silver color of Sunset Orange. It is complemented by a faux suede hip case in cool blue with an embroidered ifi logo. The novelty will be on sale until the end of October.

In the UK, the iFi audio hip-dac2 portable headphone DAC will cost £ 149.

In the USA, the iFi audio hip-dac2 portable headphone DAC will cost $ 169.
